If you are looking for beautiful spot to capture your engagement in the Netherlands, Amsterdam is one of the best places in the country to do so. The cobble stoned streets, endless canals, charming architecture, and relaxed Dutch lifestyle make Amsterdam a great place for your engagement photos. Walking through the streets of Amsterdam feels like you step back in time, and it’s no surprise why so many couples choose Amsterdam as their prewedding destination in Europe. Having photographed over 50 engagement and pre-wedding shoots in Amsterdam, I will take you to the quiet streets, away from the crowds. This way, you will experience the real Amsterdam and get some of the most iconic buildings in the backdrop of your photos.
Prewedding photos with the colorful windmills at Zaanse Schans
Not too far from Amsterdam is the wonderful quaint windmill village of Zaanse Schans. Here, multiple colorful windmills and traditional wooden houses dot the landscape. Being located so close to Amsterdam makes this place a perfect add-on for any engagement photoshoot in Amsterdam. And what’s more iconic and Dutch than a windmill? Lined up along the water, I will take you to this beautiful location in my car for some nice pre wedding photos when the big crowds have left. This means we usually have the entire area to ourselves. Later in the day, the light is also soft, which makes for some stunning pre wedding shots along these unique windmills. Zaanse Schans is beautiful year-round, so even if you’re planning to visit Amsterdam in the winter, this place will blow you away. Who knows, we might even get some snow!
Engagement photoshoot in the tulip fields and Keukenhof
If you happen to visit the Netherlands in April, you have the option to combine your engagement photoshoot in Amsterdam with the iconic tulip fields. Every year in the month of April, millions of tulips bloom in the fields near Amsterdam, drawing people from all over to visit this unique spectacle. From bright red to soft pink and deep purple, the choice is all yours! I know these fields like the back of my hand, having photographed over 25 couples from all over the world at these colorful fields. As I provide optional transport from Amsterdam, you can travel in comfort in my car, allowing us to explore the fields away from the tourists.
And then there’s the Keukenhof flower gardens, located in the middle of the tulip fields. This beautiful flower park allows you to wander around through a variety of different flower species, all perfectly manicured on intricately designed landscapes. I will take you around late in the day to avoid all the crowds and guide you through the park to the best photos spots. When the low sun hits through the trees, the park seems extra magical. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed! 🙂
