This beautiful wedding took place on the island of Texel, one of 8 islands off the coast of the Netherlands. I was so excited when Sylvia and Chris wanted me to capture their big day there, since I had always wanted to go. The island is filled with sand dunes, seals, and sheep that outnumber people. When we arrived the day before the wedding, the weather was terrible with torrential rain and wind. We were all a bit worried that it would remain until the following day. But when we woke up the next morning, we were lucky that it had died down for the most part.
We headed out to the beach to walk around the sand dunes and check out the beach houses along the lighthouse. We managed to get some photos despite the few rain showers we had. Sylvia and Chris were great sports and decided to ditch the umbrella and just have fun with it. When the guests arrived, we all hopped on a horse wagon which transported us to the ceremony location. Then it was off to the beach restaurant for a delicious barbeque!
Aside from the broken umbrella at the end of the day, everything went smoothly and Sylvia and Chris will have plenty of fun memories.
…and yes the photographer got wet as well.
